Wester Ross Accommodation

We offer a choice of accommodation in the north-west Highlands of Scotland on the North Coast 500 route:

Wester Ross has spectacular wild scenery (beaches & mountains) with plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities or just relaxing in peace and tranquillity.

Achgarve consists of a remote scattering of croft-houses in a genuine peaceful Highland community near Laide, some 45 miles from Ullapool. We are located between Loch Ewe and Loch Gruinard, on the same scenic peninsula as Mellon Charles, Aultbea, Opinan and Mellon Udrigle.

Highland Location

Our accommodation is set amongst beautiful hills with distant views across to the high mountains of An Teallach. Whether touring the region or simply looking for peace and tranquillity to 'get-away from it all', you will find this an excellent base for your holiday.

You can discover the outstandingly beautiful scenery and wildlife:

  • There are numerous walks to suit everyone from hill climbing to gentle coastal paths.
  • Trout fishing, sea fishing, sailing, cycling and pony-trekking are all available in the area.
  • Gairloch has a 9 hole golf course overlooking the sea.
  • Wildlife abounds and you may be able to see whales, seals, otters, deer and a myriad of sea birds.
  • Unspoilt sandy beaches such as nearby Mellon Udrigle (10 minutes away) are just waiting for you to explore them.

The South Wester Ross 'Arts and Eats Trail' is an ideal way to enjoy fresh local seafood while exploring craft workshops, galleries, potteries, etc. for handmade souvenirs from your Highland holiday.

Photographers will enjoy capturing the dramatic landscapes, while on clear nights, amateur and professional astronomers can enjoy an unparalleled view of the night sky, unpolluted by street-lighting. When the long bright summer nights are over, you may be treated to displays of the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).
